Our One Year Old!

Yes, I know Harrison is almost 13 months, but here is his 12 month update...

H is walking much better these days.  We have to keep our eyes on our busy boy at all times.  Some fun new words he is saying are "uh oh", "brrr", "Pop", and "Amen".   He also knows lots of animal sounds, our favorites are the cow, tiger, sheep, and dog.  Nana taught him how to do praying hands...it's the sweetest thing!  We were saying grace one night and he put his hands together.  We noticed but thought it was surely just a coincidence.  When he did it the next night we couldn't believe it.  H also started clapping at the end of songs...maybe it's just because he's happy that we have stopped singing!  We are still thankful for our sleeper who sleeps about 11 hours at night and takes two 1 1/2 hour naps.

At his 12 month check up his length was 31 in. (85%) and his weight was 22lbs 13oz (50%).

We got family pictures/ Harrison's one year pictures done by Emily Tate in the Canton square.  Thankfully H was in a good mood.  Emily is amazing and was so patient with us (I highly recommend her if you're in the Jackson area!!).  H may have enjoyed his cake...just a little bit!  Here are some of my favorite shots:

Addison Freeling was born the day before Harrison's birthday.  We are so excited for Robbie & Laurie and glad for sweet Addison to be here!  I can't wait to see them playing together as they grow up just as Laurie and I did.

We had a great turn-out for Harrison's birthday party.  It was a nice day so the kids were able to play outside.  We are so thankful for all of our family and friends who came and for all of the gifts that H received.  Toys have taken over our living room and we've been able to pack a few away and will pull them out later on.

He LOVED it!!
"Sharing" with his cousin, or just poking her ;)

lovin' on his Nana!

the aftermath :)

One thing the Lord has taught me this year is that He is taking care of us and has a plan even when we can't see it.  There have been many times when Harrison wanted to do something that I stopped him from doing.  Whatever the reason, I had his best interest in mind.  He didn't understand why I would not let him do what he wanted, but I could see the possible harmful or negative outcomes.  I think this is how it is in my life sometimes.  I want to do one thing, but the Lord stops me because He can see much more than I can.  Lord, let me learn to trust you!

What a wonderful, fast, busy, challenging, life-changing, joyous year this has been.  I am constantly amazed at how quickly Harrison changes, grows, and learns new things.  We could not be more thankful and in love with our little "Game Changer"(GC), as his daddy so properly named him the day we found out we were pregnant.

H is 11 months

Better late than never....

standing on my own!

Harrison turned 11 months on the 18th.  Our wild man has become quite a hand-full.  He wears mommy and daddy out!  He's also been testing us and pushing it more and more!  We love playing and laughing with him so much!  H is definitely a ladies man.  He got mad at me for not letting him kiss a girl in the nursery at church!

New milestones this month are...blowing kisses, saying "shh" when he says a sleeping baby, clapping, standing by himself, rolling a ball, taking steps by himself, and best of all......he says "ma ma"!!  First it sounded like "ba ba", then it turned into "mamba", now it's clearly "ma ma".  It's the sweetest thing I've ever heard, even though it's usually when something's wrong!

Grand Nan and Scraps- they evacuated to our house from Hurricane Isaac

What mom?  I'm not doing anything!

Heading to church

We went to the park with our supper club one evening.  Harrison had such a great time watching all the kids.  He played on the blanket, but was not interested in touching the grass.  It was so funny.  This was probably the first time Jermaine and I saw ourselves in him.

Harrison still sleeps about 10-11 hours at night and about 3 hours (over 2 naps) during the day.  If he can eat food off of mom and dad's plate he loves it.  If we give him the same thing on his tray he most likely spits it out.  He still likes eating baby food and is becoming quite picky about food texture.  He loves grapes, but will usually spit out the peel.

H is 10 months

Our big boy is 10 months old now.  He gets busier and busier every day.  "No" has become a very common word in our house.  The good news is that Harrison is understanding more and has started to listen sometimes!

Some milestones this month were: doing a real crawl...not the army crawl, he has two top teeth, trying to steal food from his buddies at Nana's, he says "diaper", "Thank You", and "shhh" while holding his hand up to his mouth, and he's started to get into the cabinets and drawers.  Being outside is still his favorite thing.  He's not all that interested in his toys, he'd rather play with cords or follow us around the house.

peas...yum!!

I had to go back to work at the beginning of August...I miss my boy so much!  It was such a fun summer being with him every day.  Although it was more challenging than I thought, I absolutely loved it!  The second week back at day care he managed to get an ear infection...right before we went to New Orleans.  I think we caught it early, so it was only really bad for a day.  We went to the doctor on August 17 and he was 20 lbs 14 oz.

While in New Orleans I got to see my good friend Laurie at her shower.  She is looking fabulous at 7 months!  Addison should be arriving right before Harrison's birthday!!

We also got to see my grandmother and celebrate her 96th birthday!!!  I am so thankful for her!

Congratulations to Corey and Mallory on their new house!  We can't wait to see it after the remodel.  Looking forward to helping them move Labor Day weekend.

nine months

Harrison is 9 months old!  At his doctor appointment he was 30 inches long!!  That puts him in the 90-95th percentile.  He weighed in at 19 lbs, 14 oz (25-50th percentile...not sure why it's such a large range).
This was the best I could get of him stretched out next to Gator!

He was not happy about laying still for pictures!!

Always wants to stand!!

We have one busy, busy boy lately!  Harrison has been army-crawling all over the house, just exploring everything.  Toys, the exersaucer, and jumper are not quite as interesting anymore!  He discovered pulling up and this has opened a new world for all of us.  We see more opportunities for him to get injured and he sees new play things.  Ahh, the trials of growth.

We were fortunate enough to vacation in Cumming, GA.  Thanks to the Kellys for their hospitality.  Harrison enjoyed himself,  seeing everyone and of course being in the lake.  Little Man really took to the lake and loved his time in the water.

We spent a day at the pool with La La and the Cooleys in Clinton.  La La had a blast with Harrison and  thought his love of the water was amazing.  It was great seeing Mak and Maddy also, we don't seem to see them enough.

Harrison's second tooth on the bottom came out very soon after the first one.  And the top ones are on the verge of sprouting.

He has been introduced to straws via sippy cup and dude loves it.  He would much rather drink from a straw than from a bottle.

Congratulations to Hank and Erica on the birth of Seth!  Good job guys, way to populate the earth.  We can't wait to meet him.
